Mansehra: The district administration has banned all sorts of construction activities on the land of the New Balakot City housing project in the Bakrial area, according to media reports published on Saturday (September 18). As per the details shared, the government had attainted 15,600 kanals of land for the housing project in 2007.

According to the directives of Deputy Commissioner Dr Qasim Ali Khan, the land had been acquired, mutated, and transferred in Dodial Malkal, Bakrial, Dodial Argoshal, and Mongan along with a piece of forest land in the name of the provincial government for the New Balakot City housing project to settle the affectees of the 2005 earthquake.

It was reported that the administration handed over the demarcated land twice; once in 2007 and then in 2018 to the acquiring authority. However, Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority (ERRA) revealed that there were illegal construction and encroachment on the land. It was mentioned that the violators will be punished under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
