Islamabad: The current government has decided to update the master plan of the city after 58 years, a news source reported. Under the new plan, construction will be allowed in Zone IV and the government will regularise 15 katchi abadis situated in different parts of the city and the residents will be given proprietary rights.
Private housing societies will be allowed to begin construction in Zone IV now. To use Sector G-6 for residential purposes, a large chunk of it will be converted into high-rise apartment buildings. A large section of the F sectors is also going to be designated as commercial zone.
Under the plan, after improving the infrastructure in suburbs of Islamabad, the areas will be converted into model villages.
Commercial or residential construction can be regularised in areas where Capital Development Authority (CDA) hasn’t acquired or which are exempt from acquisition by CDA. This has been done to raise revenue for CDA. A commission will be formed to update the master plan.
