Lahore: The Government of Punjab is looking to computerise land records in urban areas soon, a news source quoted the Punjab Land Record Authority Director General Zafar Iqbal. The authority has so far computerised land records for 55 million rural property owners in the province.
Iqbal said that the absence of a computerised land record system is the root cause of many property disputes. In order to address these issues, the government of Punjab has scanned 10 million old documents in just five years so far. Due to this efficient documentation, the World Bank has declared the Punjab Computerisation of Land Project exemplary.
