The administrator gave the directives while presiding over a meeting of Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) executives and stakeholders. Wahab was given a detailed briefing on the repair work underway on roads, sewerage lines and related development work underway in various districts of the city.
He stated that there should be no more delays in completing work on road network in all seven districts of Karachi. He emphasized that the roads and sewerage infrastructure damaged by recent urban flooding must be repaired as soon as possible. Wahab directed the officials concerned to ensure high quality in development work to ensure that these projects could provide long-term benefit to the people.
It is pertinent to mention here that the recent torrential monsoon rains have severely harmed Karachi’s infrastructure. Many roads, as well as sewage and water supply lines, were damaged. The Sindh government established a special committee, chaired by the Wahab, to monitor the repair and rehabilitation work. The federal government has also committed funds for restoration.
