Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has asked contractors to complete the construction work on four shelter homes by February 20 – a news source reported.
The shelter homes are being constructed on the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan. However, development work on a shelter home near Thokar Niaz Baig has yet to begin.

Moreover, the construction work on four out of five shelter homes has entered its final phase – located at the Railway Station, Data Darbar, Badami Bagh, and Lari Adda.
The government also reportedly plans to construct shelter homes in every district. These will be established in a phased manner for the homeless.

Meanwhile, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has introduced some changes to the shelter homes’ design. A single unit will now be constructed at a cost of approximately PKR 290 million.
The social welfare department has already approved the revised design and cost structure. The shelter homes near Datta Darbar and Railway Station will now cover two kanals of area.
