Islamabad: Despite claims made by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), cargo service in New Islamabad International Airport may not start in December this year, reports a news source. This delay will also push back the deadline for flight operations, which according to earlier announcements made by PCAA, was March 2017.
Reportedly, the delays seen in construction of the approach road and the dam meant exclusively for supplying water to the facility are the main reasons that the deadlines have not been met.
Per a senior PCAA official, the facility will need a couple more years before it becomes operational because construction of the approach roads and water reservoirs may not be completed before June 2017.
