The Karimabad Underpass, a PKR 3.8 million project designed with two lanes in each direction, spans 1,080 metres. Officials reported that 30% of the work has been completed, including the installation of 151 out of 212 pre-cast girders. CM Shah instructed Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani to oversee the project closely and ensure its timely delivery.
A new roundabout is also being developed at Meena Bazaar and Bazaar Faisal to improve traffic flow. The underpass, initiated by the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), forms part of the Sindh government’s broader urban development initiative.
The PKR 6.4 billion Korangi Causeway Bridge spans 1,385 metres and features additional loops and ramps extending 2.5 kilometres. Progress reports revealed that 504 out of 600 girders and 300 out of 400 piles have been completed. However, only 30% of the project has been finalized so far. CM Shah urged project directors to accelerate construction to meet the set timelines.

The Malir Expressway, a 38.8-kilometre route connecting Jam Sadiq Bridge to Kathore, is progressing rapidly. CM Shah instructed that Phase One, stretching from Jam Sadiq Bridge to Shah Faisal, be completed by December 25, 2024. Additionally, the Sindh CM directed Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab to ensure the improvement of roads leading from Shah Faisal to the airport.
The meeting, attended by Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and other senior officials, highlighted Sindh’s commitment to addressing Karachi’s growing infrastructure demands. The CM stressed that these projects will play a transformative role in enhancing the city’s connectivity and quality of life.
With the Sindh government actively prioritizing infrastructure, Karachi’s development remains a focal point in its broader urban planning strategy.
