Islamabad: Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan ordered timely completion of Gwadar East Bay Expressway and Indus Highway Sindh on Monday, according to media reports.

He said this while chairing a meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) on foreign-funded projects to assess the progress of the 15 Roads and Transport and five Finance and Revenue projects. The meeting was attended by Secretary EAD, Parliamentary Secretary Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, officials of National Highway Authority (NHA), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Naya Pakistan Housing & Development Authority (NAPHDA), State Bank of Pakistan, Communications, Finance Division, and provincial governments.

During the meeting, Omar Ayub Khan also directed the concerned authorities to timely complete all ongoing projects. five Finance and Revenue projects worth 1.3 billion will be completed in collaboration with Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank (WB). The minister also ordered all the stakeholders to resolve all outstanding issues and speed up the implementation process.
Gwadar East Bay Expressway
This expressway is an under construction six-lane expressway in Gwadar. Initially planned to be completed by 2018 is since delayed till Oct 2020. The expressway will link the Makran Coastal Highway to Gwadar Port.
