Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday (October 06) said that the completion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects is the priority of the government in an attempt to provide relief to the people, news sources reported.

The premier said the projects are essential for the material advancement and development of Pakistan as they will bring jobs to the locals. He made these remarks while talking to the delegation of the state-owned China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), headed by President Ye Chengyin. The PM on the occasion said that China’s cooperation with Pakistan has always withstood the test of time.
Later, the premier and the envoy were updated on the progress of various projects. It was told that the government has already begun the last development phases of the Karachi Coastal Development Project, Rashakai Special Economic Zone, Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway, Babusar Tunnel, ML-1, and railway corridor between Karachi Port and PIPRI. The delegation welcomed the measures taken by the prime minister for the completion of the CPEC projects on time. The CRBC also expressed interest in the 10,000 WM solar power project.

It is significant to note that CPEC, with a budget of about USD 64 billion, is one of the largest infrastructure development projects. The projects launched under the ambitious initiative entails several multilayers and multifaceted investments in energy, transportation, port, mine, and industrialization sectors.
