Islamabad: The government has shared details on the land-related complaints of Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs) resolved through the Pakistan Citizen Portal, according to a news story published on Sunday (February 27).

According to the official handout, a total of 6,803 complaints were filed by the overseas Pakistanis under the ‘Land Grabbing/Qabza Mafia’ category in 2021 and 2022. Out of these, a total of 5,752 (85%) complaints were sorted out by retrieving the illegally occupied land from the relatives or Qabza mafia.
Reportedly, the highest complaint resolution rate of 91% was registered by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), with 610 complaints settled out of 688. The second highest resolution rate of 90% was recorded for Islamabad and Balochistan. Moreover, the resolution rate for Punjab was 87%; with 3,964 complaints resolved out of 4,576. In Sindh, the rate stood at 64% and in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, it was 75%. The overseas Pakistanis lauded the efforts of the government for taking swift action on the complaints registered under the Citizen Portal.

The exclusive ‘Land Grabbing/Qabza Mafia’ category was added to the portal in April 2021, under the direct supervision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to curb illegal land grabbing. The premier ordered strict action against land grabbing on both federal and provincial levels.
