Karachi: Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce and Cooperative Department (ICCD) Jam Ikramullah Dharejo ordered concerned officers to establish a complaint cell for the department as soon as possible while chairing a meeting, a news source reported. He said that his top priority was to resolve the problems of these societies, in order to facilitate the people, and ease their burdens.

The minister asked officers to organize public awareness campaigns through media sources pertaining to issues of cooperative societies and the ICCD. He also emphasised the importance of automation of the ICCD, and ordered the process to be sped up.

Minister Dharejo will be visiting the societies himself to inspect various issues in person. He also suggested that dedicated officers should be posted in the field, and warned that strict action will be taken against the departments that receive frequent complaints. Additionally, he asked registrar cooperative societies to visit regional offices more often. The meeting concluded that registrars should make efforts to conduct elections in these societies.
