Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has formed a joint committee in collaboration with the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration and the Municipal Corporation Islamabad (MCI) to monitor and regulate private housing, farm housing, and commercial projects in Zones 2, 4, and 5 of Islamabad.
A notification issued by the Human Resource Development Directorate outlines the structure of the newly formed committee, which will be composed of key officials from the CDA, ICT, and MCI. The Director General (Urban Planning) of the CDA will serve as the convener of the committee, with representatives from various departments, including enforcement, regional planning, building control, sector development, environment, estate management, and housing societies.

The ICT Administration will be represented by the Assistant Commissioner (Sadar) and the Deputy Registrar (Co-operative Societies), while MCI will contribute through the Directors of Municipal Administration and Revenue.
The committee has been tasked with several important responsibilities, including ensuring the collection of data for fee recoveries from sponsors, allottees, and residents of private schemes. It will also monitor the transfer of land, amenities, utilities, and public buildings to the CDA in private schemes, ensuring these resources are not misused.
Another major responsibility of the committee is to oversee the timely development and construction of mortgaged plots, apartments, and housing projects, ensuring that sponsors do not engage in illegal allotments. It will also verify that approved layouts and building plans are being followed without violations.
The committee will strictly monitor compliance with the key clauses of the Regulation for Planning and Development of Private Housing, Farm Housing, Apartments, and Commercial Schemes/Projects in Zones 2, 4 & 5 of Islamabad, framed under the ICT Zoning Regulations 1992.

The committee will conduct monthly follow-ups and provide regular updates to ensure the effective implementation of its mandate, aiming for streamlined regulation and transparency in the development process within the city.
