Islamabad: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Housing and Works on Monday (February 28) approved the budgetary proposals related to Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) submitted by the Housing Ministry, according to media reports.

A committee meeting was held at the Parliament House chaired by Member National Assembly (MNA) Najeeb Haroon. He directed the housing ministry to give priority to the development projects (ongoing or suspended) on which more than 50% of work has been completed.

Moreover, the Housing Ministry put forward 445 projects of four categories, with an estimated cost of PKR 185,496.1 million. The projects included 345 new, 60 ongoing, 35 suspended, and 5 under approval. Director General of Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD) Zahoor Ahmed and the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives was asked to review the schemes and prioritise the projects that belong to socially-backward areas. The ministry was given one week to submit a report.
