Lahore: The Punjab government recently formed a 12-member committee under the supervision of Additional Chief Secretary Punjab to transfer executive powers to local government administrators in Lahore — a news source reported. Specifically, these officials will be given executive jurisdiction in the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Solid Waste Management, Education, Health, and several other government departments.

The Additional Chief Secretary Punjab will also be the convener of the committee. The committee will include Secretary Local Government, Secretary Housing, Secretary Law, and Commissioner Lahore Division. Other members will be Director General of LDA, Managing Director of WASA, Director General PHA, Managing Director Lahore Waste Management Company, and Director (Legal) Local Government. The final member will be a representative of the public. The committee’s secretary will be Additional Secretary Local Government.

The committee will submit its recommendations to the Chief Minister, who will then devolve the control of the various departments to the local government administrators.
