Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday was informed about a committee tasked with identifying illegal housing societies within the city, a news source reported on December 30. A counsel for the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) apprised the court about said development.

He further stated that the civic agency had identified 62 housing societies over committing violations of the authority’s regulations and that as many as 241 residential schemes were found conducting violations of the green belts.
In response, Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan questioned the provision of gas and power supplies to the housing schemes in question. He stated that these projects continued to operate despite stay orders issued against them.

He further directed the LDA management to furnish a detailed report on houses constructed in illegal societies and adjourned the hearing till Jan 18.
