Over 4,000 shops have been razed since the beginning of the demolition drive. The Supreme Court had in December ordered the Sindh government to clear off encroachments.
The top court, however, barred the authorities concerned from demolishing houses. Chief Justice Saqib Nisar said that the directives to clear public encroachments were clear.
On Tuesday, KMC launched a cleanliness drive to remove debris around the Karachi Zoo locality. The KMC officials had previously carried out an anti-encroachment drive. It will carry out a demolition campaign inside the zoo in the next phase.
