Lahore: Government of Punjab has formed a 15-member Cabinet Committee to increase property taxes, traffic challan and route permit fee, reported a news source. The decision has been taken to help the province meet its revenue targets.
For meeting the revenue target, the provincial government is also looking to introduce new taxes.
The Cabinet Committee will prepare its proposals for increasing taxes and introducing new levies. The committee has been specifically asked to prepare suggestions for increasing property taxes.
In addition, it will also share recommendations for increasing traffic challan fee and traffic route permit. Furthermore, the committee will also give its take on whether or not the annual subsidies should continue.
Reportedly, the provincial government has issued a formal notification for formation of this committee.
The committee comprises ministers of Finance, Revenue and Taxation, Health, Education, Irrigation and Management and Professional Development Department. In addition, the committee will also have Board of Revenue senior members, secretaries of Local Bodies, Finance and Law Department as its members.
