In order to solve the traffic problems around the Lea Market area with the construction of a flyover, Administrator Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed has formed a five-member technical committee which would conduct a survey of the area and submit its report before Saturday.
This was decided at a high level meeting chaired by the Administrator Karachi in the Camp Office and was attended by Executive District Officer (EDO) Revenue, EDO Transport, EDO Master Plan, EDO Work and Services, a representative of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) as well as other organisations.
Various options came under review during the meeting and it was decided that a committee comprising of EDO Master Plan, EDO Revenue, Director General (DG) Karachi Mass Transit Cell (KMTC), EDO Transport and a representative of a consultant firm would conduct a survey of the whole area and submit its report by Saturday.
The meeting also decided that this big project would complete in two phases. In the first phase, a single lane flyover would be constructed, while the other lane of the bridge would be completed in the second phase. CDGK recovers 1104 acres land: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Karachi, Roshan Ali Shaikh said that City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has so far recovered 1104 acres land worth Rs9360million from the possession of the land mafia after launching the present anti-encroachments drive on 3rd October 2011.
While addressing a meeting of officers from the Revenue Department in his office, the DCO said measures will be taken to further accelerate the campaign. Earlier the meeting reviewed the ongoing action against land grabbers in different areas of the city and took various decisions to make the present campaign more effective.
