Islamabad: Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Wednesday (December 22) disclosed that a committee was set up to regularise housing schemes in different zones of Islamabad, according to news sources.

As per the details, the minister informed the National Assembly that a body was formed as per the decision of the federal cabinet. The body will advise and develop an effective policy to legalise irregular housing schemes in Zone II, IV, & V.
Moreover, Minister Rasheed stated that the body was notified by the Interior Ministry. Sharing more details about the operation of the committee, the committee will suggest the payment of a fine that might be imposed for the regularisation of housing schemes. The fine will be imposed on the violations that might include:
- Missing parks or open spaces
- Public buildings
- Missing graveyard
- Non-conforming uses
- Inner road and access road width is less than required planning standards

The committee includes Vice Chairman Planning Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners (PCATP) Member, Murad Jamil (Architect), Director General Planning Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sikandar Ajam (Architect), and others.
