Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has formed a committee for the revival of the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA), which will be headed by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, a news source reported on February 9.

The premier stated that a committee will comprise Law Minister, Information Technology Minister, Investment Minister, Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman, and Advisor to Prime Minister on Establishment.
The PM was disappointed by the poor performance of the STZA and to revive it a committee was formed. Additionally, the committee has been directed to submit its recommendation for activating the STZA within a week and the board of governors of authority must be activated immediately.

The committee was asked to focus on its main purpose of the development of technology in the country. During the meeting, the attendees were briefed that 400 companies were registered with the authority. Out of which 63% are Pakistani firms, while the remaining are foreign companies.
