Gujranwala: Gujranwala Commissioner Waqas Mehmood (also the city administrator) has taken strict notice of 6,000 buildings being constructed without getting their respective maps approved, a news source reported.

Reportedly, the commissioner also suspended a couple of building inspectors allegedly involved in facilitating the developers of these buildings. Mehmood further paid a visit to the Gujranwala Municipal Corporation (GMC) office and had a look at their records.
He instructed the GMC staff to issue notices to the building owners found involved in construction activities in the absence of maps approved by the authority.

As per GMC officials, the purpose of sending these notices is to impose and collect fines for carrying out the construction work. He also directed the corporation’s staff to ensure that the recovery of dues was made quickly.
