Rawalpindi: Commissioner of Rawalpindi Division Muhammad Mehmood recently asked the administrations of private housing schemes to refrain from initiating development work within their premises without first obtaining no-objection certificates, particularly those issued by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) — a news source reported earlier today (June 30). He further directed them to ensure that water treatment plants and sewerage systems are installed in each housing project.

Additionally, the commissioner instructed the revenue department, the RDA and other government departments concerned to ensure that applications by housing societies were approved as soon as possible, so that unnecessary delays could be avoided. He added that all possible efforts were being made in order to ensure that private housing schemes were provide will all the requisite facilities.

The commissioner made these comments while chairing a meeting on illegal housing societies at his office on Monday. On the occasion, he stated that the government was trying to improve Pakistan’s ease-of-doing-business and that the aforementioned steps were critical for this purpose.
