Multan: Commissioner Multan Division Shan-ul-Haq recently announced the district government’s decision to launch the “Adopt a Road” drive for the beautification of the city — with the initiative aimed at assigning projects involving the development of various roads in Multan to private investors, a news source reported.

He made these comments while on a surprise visit of the city, during which he was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aamer Khattak, Multan Development Authority (MDA) Chairman Mian Jameel, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Chairman Ijaz Janjua, Metropolitan Corporation Chief Officer Shahid Iqbal and other officials.
The commissioner further announced that the historic Damdama and Walled City would be renovated in order to promote tourism. He added that an open coffee shop would also be built at the site.

In addition, Commissioner Haq stated that the city would get rid of all encroachments with the help of the Metropolitan Corporation, and that a plan would be devised for this purpose on a three-month basis.
DC Khattak also took the opportunity to speak to the assembled crowd, saying that the ancient roots of the city were sure to attract local and foreign visitors, and that efforts should be made in the future to further promote tourism in the region.
