Peshawar: Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud has launched the Billion Tree Plus campaign to combat climate change and mitigate its negative effects, as reported on July 26.

As per details, he inaugurated the drive by planting a sapling during a ceremony at the Commissioner’s House in Peshawar. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Mehsud emphasised that the saplings planted under the Billion Tree Plus campaign will significantly improve the environment.
Under this campaign, 750,000 saplings will be planted across all five districts of the Peshawar Division, including Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mohmand Tribal District, and Khyber District during the monsoon season. Special teams, consisting of Deputy Commissioners and District Forest Officers, have been formed to ensure the success of this initiative.

Commissioner Mehsud highlighted the importance of planting more trees to effectively address climate change. He issued special instructions to all Deputy Commissioners to ensure the campaign’s success and assured that he would personally oversee the campaign to ensure its successful completion.
