Gujranwala: Commissioner Gujranwala Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah has directed the authorities concerned for stern action against the 300 illegal commercial buildings falling within the jurisdiction of Gujranwala Metropolitan Corporation (GMC), a news source reported on October 5. He ordered for a comprehensive survey to identify the buildings that have not yet cleared their dues.

According to details, at least 300 commercial buildings are illegally operating within the GMC’s jurisdictions without paying the requisite commercialisation fees. Consequently, the corporation has seen a setback of PKR 95 million.

Moreover, the commissioner also ordered sealing of an operational 61-marla building for not paying the PKR 9.3 million commercialisation fees. He also issued a show-cause notice to the officials who have been allowing the building to operate without paying the GMC’s dues.
