Bahawalpur: Bahawalpur Commissioner Asif Iqbal Chaudhry presided over a meeting on Wednesday, where he reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming Cholistan Desert Rally, according to a news source. The rally is scheduled from the 13th to the 16th of February next year (2020), and the relevant authorities are making preparations accordingly.

The meeting was held at Commissioner Chaudhry’s office, where he informed the gathered members that the Cholistan Desert Rally had become an international sporting event since its inception over a decade ago. He reiterated that the rally is an excellent measure for promoting the soft image of Pakistan, and also for supporting Cholistan’s indigenous culture.

He further revealed that the security arrangements and traffic plan for the event would be finalised soon, and that power lines would be laid to transmit electricity to Derawar Fort and Fort Abbas. A food court would also be set up near the venue.
Additionally, the authorities would arrange for Rescue 1122 and military ambulances along the rally’ route, and ensure that the trail is kept clean. Chaudhry said that the event would include Kabaddi matches, horse and camel races, as well as a musical night and culture show.
