Gujranwala: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has decided to charge PKR 100,000 per month for the commercial use of water, a news source reported. This includes the use of water by private and public housing societies, factories, service stations, and beverage companies. WASA has dispatched the recommendations to Government of Punjab for approval.
Previously, it had been decided that an aqua charge of PKR 5,000 per month would be charged for commercial use, however, the decision was not being implemented. In light of Supreme Court’s directions, WASA has declared underground water the property of the government and has decided to impose the aqua charge of PKR 100,000.
The charge is only for use of 2 cusecs of water and the charges will be higher in case more water is utilised.
