Lahore: Lahore High Court has placed a ban on carrying out commercial activities in residential areas of Model Town, reported a news source. The court was hearing a case filed against the on-going commercial operations of private schools set up within the residential areas of the society.
The court also instructed all private schools operating inside the residential areas to relocate their premises within six months. To document all commercial activity being conducted in the city, Lahore Development Authority also conducted a survey previously.
The survey was carried out to help LDA design Lahore’s master plan for 2040.
The survey findings revealed that many commercial buildings operating within residential areas had failed to abide by building bylaws; thereby causing parking problems and traffic issues on many boulevards in the city.
To help address these issues, the LDA has placed a ban on the commercial use of residential properties in Lahore.
