Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Bajwa vowed that the army will help rebuild the houses for the flood affectees, according to news published on August 31.

COAS Bajwa visited Swat to meet flood-hit people and to survey the extent of damage caused by the recent flood. He mentioned that the scale of devastation was huge in Sindh, and urged authorities to utilise the available international aid for overcoming post-monsoon challenges.
As per the details, the flood survivors (including women and kids) were rescued by the army aviation helicopters from Kalam to Kanju areas of Swat. The evacuated people thanked the army for their support and efforts. Moreover, COAS also reviewed the relief operations of army troops at different locations including Khwazakhela, Bahrain, Kalam, and Matta areas of Swat. He also lauded the efforts of Peshawar Corps for timely response and saving precious lives.

Reportedly, the COAS disclosed that the National Flood Response Centre will operate on the lines of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). The centre will coordinate the efforts for the rehabilitation of the affectees.
