Lahore: The Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar’s flagship initiative ‘Hunarmand Naujawan Programme’ is being launched tomorrow (December 14) at the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Punjab’s annual TEVTA Convention 2019 — being held at the Main Auditorium Convention Centre of Expo Centre Lahore, according to news sources. As per the publication, the event has been titled ‘The New Skills Ecosystem’, and is being sponsored by Pakistan’s leading property portal, Zameen.com.

The CM has launched this programme in order to empower over 100,000 students across Punjab by mainstreaming Competency-Based Training and Assessment — along with 56 demand-driven courses that provide economic opportunities in the future. These free of cost classes are being funded with a budget of PKR 1,500 million (co-funded by the European Union) and aim to create jobs and inculcate an entrepreneurial spirit among the province’s youth population.

Additionally, the programme will empower provincial citizens by offering them financial and technical support so as to promote their freelancing abilities. As per official TEVTA social media channels, a total of 8,000 people have signed up for the convention. The event will be held between 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
