Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal on Wednesday vowed to work on the development of the province’s fisheries sector, a news source reported. The CM stated that the province’s long coastal strip should be utilised to uplift the local community and to provide additional job opportunities.

Kamal was presiding over a meeting to review the progress on the development of the fisheries sectors and issued instructions to timely complete the developmental work. The meeting was held through a video link as a precautionary measure amid the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. It was attended by the chief secretary, Capt (retd) Fazeel Asghar, Additional Chief Secretary for P&D Abdul Rehman Buzdar and fisheries secretary.

In a related development, the provincial cabinet, after a meeting chaired by the CM decided to computerise public property records in a bid to expand the property tax net. The project will initially be launched in Quetta with the assistance from the Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Sciences.
