Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday (April 26) asked the Local Government departments to launch Rescue 1122 service in the province and procure a fleet of fire tenders and ambulances to control any untoward incidents, news sources reported.

The fleet will include 200 fire tenders and ambulances managed by the Rescue 1122 emergency service. While chairing a meeting to finalise proposals for the next Annual Development Programmes (ADP) 2022-23, CM Murad said that the provincial government would take serious measures to prevent Mehran Goth like fire incidents. To achieve this, the procured vehicles will be placed at the disposal of the Rescue 1122 service in each district, and the parking and management will be decided in consultation with the district administration. Moreover, Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah also briefed the meeting on the ongoing multi-billion rupee projects in the province.

According to the minister, the provincial government has initiated 555 development initiatives totalling PKR 25.5 billion. The government has disbursed PKR 16.972 billion of the total allotted funds, of which 11.843 billion has already been spent. CM Murad urged the local government administration to hasten work on ongoing projects. He also said that the provincial government would prioritise development projects in Karachi in the new financial year.
