Karachi: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah revealed on Wednesday that he had released PKR 463 million for relief and cleanliness measures during the ongoing rain emergency situation in Karachi, according to a news report. He stated that these funds will be utilised to clean stormwater drains and carry out other relief measures in the city.

Shah also revealed that the provincial government had released PKR 200 million on July 17 as a special grant-in-aid for critical actions to counter damages caused by the monsoon rains under the Solid Waste Emergency and Efficiency Programme. A further PKR 229 million had been released on July 2 to clear nullahs and conduct other monsoon preparations in various districts. He added that a further PKR 90 million was in the works for rain relief measures in the province.

This PKR 229 million sum was distributed as follows:
- PKR 30 million to the Commissioner of Karachi for garbage and debris removal
- PKR 70 million to the Commissioner of Hyderabad
- PKR 20 million to the Commissioner of Larkana
- PKR 31 million to the Commissioner of Mirpurkhas
- PKR 38 million to the Commissioner of Shaheed Benazirabad
- PKR 40 million to the Commissioner of Sukkur
- PKR 4 million for the cleaning/desilting of Saadi Town in Karachi
