Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has said that a masterplan for the development of the 770-kilometre-long coastline (requiring a budget of USD 150 million) has been included in the provincial budget for (Fiscal Year) FY2020-21, according to a news source published on July 27.

The chief minister stated in a tweet that the coastal areas of Balochistan have vast investment potential and his government is taking all the necessary steps to promote eco-tourism in the province. He revealed that seven tourist resorts, including jetties, are being established at a cost of PKR 1,000 million.

Additionally, Alyani said that the government plans to develop five beach parks with a cost of PKR 250 million and 10 rest areas worth PKR 1,000 million in the existing fiscal year. He said that measures are being actively taken to develop the fishing sector in the coastal belt of Balochistan and a feasibility study is being executed with a cost of PKR 200 million – aimed at boosting the locals’ income. The coastline stretches to some 1,050 kilometres.
Moreover, the CM said that a tree plantation drive and various residential schemes are being launched as well to promote marine life in Gwadar.
