Rawalpindi: The Chief Minister Punjab has reprimanded the excise department for taking ‘unfair’ action against 5-marla homes and sending notices of 20-year old taxes (when the taxes were applicable) with interest, a news source reported.
The property taxes on 5-marla homes was abolished during the term of the former Chief Minister Pervaiz Ilahi and the dues were discharged. The complainant maintained that the departments had not taken action during the past 10 years but were now sending notices as high as PKR 100,000 due to the addition of interest over the years.
The CM has demanded a report on the matter.
