Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Hamza Shehbaz on Wednesday (May 11) reviewed steps being taken to mitigate water shortage in South Punjab – especially in Cholistan and Bahawalpur, according to news sources.

During a meeting held to address the water shortage in South Punjab, the newly-appointed CM ordered relief measures to be implemented on a war footing in the affected areas. He also ordered the administrative teams and office-bearers to monitor relief efforts in the affected areas.

Reportedly, the South Punjab administration is executing a rescue and relief operation in Cholistan to facilitate locales and livestock in the drought-struck areas. The Cholistan Development Authority has established 11 base camps in tehsils of Fort Abbas, Liaquatpur, and Yazman at, Fort Drawer, Head Farid Matan wala, Mithra Bangla, Mir Garh, Kithry Bangla, Kalay Paar, Chak 178/7 R, Chanan Pir, Chak 147/5 R and Chak 75/DB.
