Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi on Tuesday (September 20) ordered the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to include Sheikhupura in its jurisdiction, news sources reported.

The directives were issued at the LDA’s 4th governing body meeting, which was convened to discuss different ongoing development projects and legal concerns. Elahi stated that additional cities joining LDA would improve their infrastructure and laws. In addition, the governing board adopted the following decisions:
- CM approved the LDA’s budget for the financial year 2022-23
- The CM ordered the establishment of fire hydrants across the city with continuous water supply for timely response to urban fire incidents
- He also ordered the LDA not to approve any multi-storey building plan without the safety clearance from Rescue 1122 services
- The body decided that the minimum area for any apartment project will be 1-kanal
- LDA will also collect sanitation-related charges from non-paying private housing schemes on behalf of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA)

- The body approved the construction of apartments in the Finance and Trade Center Johar Town
- The plan for the improvement of Khayaban Amin, Johar Town was also approved
- Approval was given for the marketing and business model of Walk and Shop LDA Shopping Arena in Johar Town
- The meeting also approved the infrastructure improvement project of the Mohlanwal Housing Scheme and decided to waive the penalty for late submission of past dues due to the pandemic. However, a standard fine would be received on late submission of current dues
