Karachi: As per the directions of Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah, 1,179 villages in the province are to be given electricity access, according to a news source. He directed the energy minister to approach Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO), Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO), and K-Electric (KE) for this purpose.
At a meeting presided over by the CM, it was revealed that 1,974 out of a total of 3,153 villages had been electrified so far by the aforementioned power utilities at a cost of PKR 3.66 billion.

For the electrification of the remaining 1,179 villages, the power companies have a balance of PKR 1.86 billion. Along with instructing Energy Minister Imtiaz Sheikh to provide service to these villages, CM Shah also disclosed future plans for providing electricity to various villages in the Malir and West districts. He directed the energy department to draw up plans for these schemes, so that required funds could be allocated.
