Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Monday issued directives to the deputy commissioners (DCs) concerned to strictly monitor the functionings of patwaris in order to curb the malpractices that currently hamper local land transactions, according to news sources.

He issued these instructions during a meeting of divisional commissioners and DCs at the civil secretariat’s cabinet room. Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz, Additional Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan and other officials were all present on the occasion.
The chief minister directed the DC to ensure quality in the developmental schemes underway in their constituencies, to functionalise complaint cells at the district level, and to replicate Peshawar’s revenue darbars in all districts of the province. He further called for the appointment of an officer to supervise and follow-up the clean and green initiative; in addition to ordering the officials concerned to streamline the land-acquisition process for various development schemes.

CM Khan directed the officials to involve public representative in the proceedings of khuli kutcheris. The CM further opined that no tolerance will be shown in the matters involving public service delivery. He asked for the issues surfaced in the computerisation of land record in Mardan district to be promptly resolved.
Additionally, the CM Mahmood Khan asked for a pragmatic approach to be adopted for dealing with the public’s issues with the revenue department and patwaris, with a special focus on the administrative matters of the tribal areas.
