Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has directed the authorities concerned to address the issues impeding the construction of the runway at the Saidu Sharif Airport in Swat, a news source reported. Simultaneously, he approved the construction of Kheshgi National Park and ski training schools at Malam Jabba and Gabin Jabba. These projects will be developed in collaboration with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

The CM was briefed about details of these projects during a meeting with the Air Vice-Marshal Abdul Moeed Khan at the CM’s Secretariat in Peshawar. Khan gave concerned authorities three months to resolve the issues pertaining to the airport as he believes it will play a major role in improving trade and tourism in the province. The project is being constructed according to international standards and on the model of a joint user airport which will also accommodate PIA international flights. To improve its standard, another runway is being constructed besides the existing one.

The CM was informed that the National Park would be established on 1,900 kanals of government land, making it the largest endeavour of its kind in KP. Officials are hopeful it will pull in sufficient revenue for the province. Khan wants to convene a special meeting to settle the details of the construction of the National Park.
Moreover, the ski training school will be constructed on 300 kanals in Malam Jabba which will host ski competitions of international standards, the CM was told.
The chief minister was also briefed about the construction of a PAF selection centre at Mingora. He then emphasised the need for it. He also stated that Mingora will also receive a medical centre.
