Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Economic Zone Development & Management Company (KPEZDMC) informed Chief Minister KP Mahmood Khan that the two new economic zones in the province will be completed in the next two months, according to a news report. Once completed the newly established economic zones will cumulatively produce 25,980 jobs for the local population.

According to the news brief, the 89-acre Ghazi Economic Zone and the 40-acre Chitral Economic Zone will be the newest additions to the province’s existing Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The Rashakai Special Economic Zone, Jalozai Economic Zone, Nowshera Economic Zone (Extension), and Dera Ismail Khan Economic Zone were all completed by the KP government in the last financial year.
Furthermore, the minister was informed that, in addition to the creation of new industrial zones in the province, measures to revitalise dormant industrial units and the establishment of women-friendly Women Industrial Parks have also been proposed.

It was also reported that an investment of over PKR 31 billion has been deployed for development work and the construction of new industrial units, with 1,290 industrial units currently operating in the existing zones.
