Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Thursday (December 02) announced the bifurcation of the Hazara Division, news sources reported. The new division, Abaseen, will be part of a new Zone-6 and will include the few districts of Malakand and Hazara.

According to the source, the Allai tehsil would be granted district status following its separation from the Battagram District, and a notification will be issued soon. The newly formed Abaseen division will include Kohistan Upper, Kohistan Lower, Kolai Palas, Shangla, Battagram, and the newly formed district Alai. Following the separation, the remaining Hazara Division will be Abbottabad, Haripur, and Mansehra.

Moreover, CM Mehmood stated at a gathering in Battagram that the establishment of a new division will strengthen administrative control and alleviate public difficulties. It was also learned that the matter related to the headquarter of the newly proposed division is still under consideration with the district of Bisham as a strong contender for the centre of the Abaseen Division. Minister Mehmood also announced a development fund of PKR 120 million for the Battagram District on the occasion.
