Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a special meeting to review the progress of the 3-Marla Free Plot Scheme and the provision of loans for individuals receiving plots to build their homes. The update surfaced through an article on March 6.

During the meeting, the CM Maryam instructed authorities to rehabilitate and improve 23 existing housing schemes of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) across 19 districts. She also emphasised the immediate release of funds to accelerate development efforts.
Highlighting the importance of housing for underserved communities, she stated, “Providing shelter to homeless individuals remains a key priority. It is gratifying to witness homes being built under the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program.”

The Director General of PHATA presented a detailed briefing on the program’s progress, reporting that 9,661 houses are near completion across Punjab. He also noted a 100% repayment rate for loans provided under the initiative.
CM Maryam urged PHATA to meet project targets by March, reinforcing the government’s commitment to expanding affordable housing in the province.
