Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved two significant transport initiatives, including the introduction of 20,000 electric bikes and 657 eco-friendly urban buses, as claimed by a news source on March 12.

According to the details, the plan has been brought forward to improve citizens’ convenience and reduce economic burdens. The projects were discussed in a high-level meeting chaired by CM Maryam, who emphasised the government’s commitment to easing the populace’s financial strain. The electric bike project is set to begin on May 9, with deliveries following shortly after.

Additionally, plans for diesel hybrid regenerated buses in key cities have been initiated. CM Maryam also endorsed a comprehensive plan to provide 657 buses across major cities, directing the Transport Minister to oversee its execution. In addressing housing concerns among low-income groups, she instructed a reduction in housing instalments and set deadlines for land allocation for housing construction.
