Sialkot: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Wednesday launched the Corona Relief Tiger Force initiative in the city — a news source reported. The force comprises of civilians from all walks of life that will be tasked with providing relief to communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the occasion, the CM met with the volunteers of the force, which included teachers, health workers, engineers, lawyers and doctors, among others.
Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had announced his decision to establish the Corona Tiger Force last month and the registrations for the initiative had begun earlier this month. Reportedly, about 300,000 youngsters — including 5,000 women — had volunteered for the tiger force within a matter of two days.

The members of the force will be assigned the task of distributing food items among low-income households during the coronavirus lockdown. The lockdown has not only caused financial issues for underprivileged families but has also made it difficult for them to procure even the most basic of necessities during these trying times. The Tiger Force is expected to provide the affected people with a lifeline and provide relief in such situations.
