Lahore: The Bank of Punjab (BOP) has approved 280,000 farmers’ applications for the Chief Minister’s Kissan Card, allowing them to purchase agricultural inputs, according to a news source on September 6.

As per the details, this announcement was made by Punjab’s Agriculture and Livestock Minister, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, during a meeting in Lahore. The Kissan Card will facilitate future government subsidies and enable farmers to buy seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs from 2,160 registered dealers.
The Punjab Agriculture Department had previously registered 800,000 farmers for the scheme. Special teams have been formed for manual checks in non-computerised areas to address verification challenges. Additionally, 137 delivery centres have been set up across the province to distribute the cards.

The Minister also reviewed the Chief Minister Punjab Green Tractor Scheme, which will provide 9,500 tractors to farmers. A subsidy of PKR 9.5 billion has been allocated, and the tractors will be distributed through a transparent digital balloting system.
