Lahore: The Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar will inaugurate the Gulab Devi Underpass project on December 25, news sources reported on December 20. The government has decided to name the newly constructed underpass ‘Abdul Sattar Edhi Underpass’ in honour of Pakistan’s renowned humanitarian figure.

As per the reports, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has sought a date of December 25 from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) for the inauguration of the underpass, according to which, preparations are being made. The work to lay asphalt layers for the final carpeting of the underpass is presently underway. Similarly, the work on the aluminum design to beautify the underpass is also nearing completion, with the electrical works expected to be completed soon. The LDA will carry out line marking by installing lights one day before December 25.

As per Project Concept-1 (PC-1), the underpass was supposed to be completed in February 2022. However, CM Buzdar asked LDA to complete the project by December. Previously, the LDA had set December 15 as the internal date for opening the underpass.
