Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has formally approved the Lahore Master Plan 2050, news sources reported on December 22.

The approval was granted during the 8th meeting of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) governing body, chaired by CM Pervaiz Elahi. On the occasion, CM Elahi said that the focus of the Lahore Master Plan 2050 is preserving agricultural land for future use. Furthermore, sustainable policy measures are also part of the plan to maintain an urban-rural balance, and it was decided to increase the green land area from 7% to 20%. Additionally, the meeting also discussed the ongoing progress and development of the projects taking place in the Central Business District (CBD).

The meeting approved initiatives to promote tourism, the environment, and urban facilities in the Master Plan 2050. Approval was also granted to renew an agreement with the Choueifat School and allot substitute plots to those affected by Mustafa Town.
