Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has approved the Lahore Master Plan 2050 during the meeting of the Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA) governing body, according to news published on October 18.

During the meeting, Consultant Master Planning Mr David gave a detailed briefing to the attendees about the master plan. The attendees discussed regional strategy, economic development, and other issues. The CM stated that the residential needs in the city are increasing and it will be taken into consideration in the master plan. He went on to say that the people living in the suburbs will be provided with the same facilities as city dwellers. It was revealed that large-scale planting will be conducted to set up buffer zones.

During the same meeting, the CM approved one-window operation facility for overseas Pakistanis in LDA’s housing schemes. This will enable them to purchase plots from the authority in a day. The news source mentioned that the transfer facility of plots will be provided to overseas Pakistanis on the same day.
Moreover, CM Elahi directed the authorities concerned to materialise the Shahdara plan and to start construction work. He also announced that the public transport system will be developed on modern lines along with the construction of flyovers and interchanges to ease traffic flow. The chief minister informed the attendees to promote multi-storey building culture instead of acquiring more agricultural land.

In the meeting, the construction of an overhead bridge for motorcyclists at Azadi Chowk was approved. The meeting also approved the construction of a flyover and underpass to make Akbar Chowk signal-free. Moreover, the meeting approved the amendments in LDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2019.
