Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has directed the authorities concerned to start acquiring land to mobilise KP Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP) without delay, reported news sources. He said this while chairing a high-level meeting which was attended by Minister for Local Government Akbar Ayub, and administrative secretaries of all the concerned departments.

The megacity improvement initiative ‘KPCIP’ is being launched with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to uplift five major provincial cities in KP, which includes Peshawar, Kohat, Abbottabad, Mardan, and Swat.
The official press release revealed that the CM was briefed over the project details and the current progress. The project consists of plans to improve the existing clean water and sewage infrastructure, development of solid waste management and sewage treatment plants and clean and green initiatives.

The meeting participants were told that the original aim of the project is to provide citizens with amenities and improve their quality of life. The municipal system restructuring is also part of the plan. Moreover, the meeting was told that the project plan has been finalised and the tenders are in process.
